The school welcomes Russian students from the Murmansk County as part of the partneship between Troms and Murmansk Counties and an important part of the school’s international perspective.
Finnfjordbotn is the only IB World School in the Norwegian part of the
Barents Region – a region full of natural resources such as oil, gas, fish and unspoiled nature. Offering the Diploma Programme with focus on in-depth studies, international understanding, and the diversity in culture and language in the Barents Region will help us secure a sustainable future here. The school enjoys a close cooperation with various businesses in the region, and, the National Centre for Space-related Education (
NAROM) where the focus is on climate changes and northern lights research. The IB students have the possibility to write their Extended Essay in cooperation with our partners doing their research out of school.
The school is a state school with ordinary day students and boarding students. The school offers the Diploma Programme, national university preparatory courses, and vocational training. The school has a good reputation, and takes good care of the students, both socially and academically. We have students from all over the world, and we are especially happy to host 6 AFS exchange students annually.
